The National Park Bird Research Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE) of the Republic of Korea, has released its 2025 Research and Conservation Highlights report.
The publication highlights regular monitoring on Heuksando Island and seabird breeding dynamics on Chilbaldo Islet, an EAAF Flyway Network Site [EAAF107]. On Chilbaldo, surveys evaluated Swinhoe’s Storm Petrel breeding density within restored coastal rock sedge areas, recorded mortality from invasive Japanese chaff flower entanglement, and tracked migratory bird activity via direct observation and camera traps.
Furthermore, the report covers disease surveillance on wild birds and seabirds (including migratory bird-borne ticks) and emphasizes the key achievements of Citizen Science in long-term field data collection and CEPA initiatives for future generations.
