The 22nd Meeting of the IUCN SSC Goose Specialist Group (GSG 2027) will be held in Seosan City, Republic of Korea, from 27 to 31 January 2027. Seosan, on the west coast of Korea, is one of the country’s important wintering areas for geese, and the meeting will take place at the height of the wintering season.
The Goose Specialist Group brings together researchers and conservation practitioners working on goose populations across the Northern Hemisphere. GSG 2027 is the first GSG meeting to be held in Korea and offers an opportunity to share knowledge on goose populations of the East Asian–Australasian Flyway and to strengthen links between researchers along the breeding, staging and wintering areas.
Researchers, students, site managers, government officers and conservation practitioners interested in geese are warmly invited to participate.
The meeting will include keynote talks, oral and poster presentations, workshops and round-table discussions, as well as a sunrise excursion and a mid-conference excursion to local goose wintering sites. A provisional programme is available on the conference website.

Support GSG 2027
The Organizing Committee is seeking sponsors and supporting organisations to help make the meeting accessible to a wide range of participants. Support is particularly needed for:
- travel and registration costs of invited keynote speakers
- travel grants for early-career researchers, students and participants from low- and middle-income countries
