The Secretariat is excited to announce the theme for the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership’s 20th anniversary theme: 20 Years for the Flyway – Woven by People, Carried on Wings.

The EAAFP was established in 2006 with a vision to conserve migratory waterbirds and their habitats along the #EAAFlyway, and the livelihoods of the people dependent on them. The EAAFP, now comprised of 42 Partners, continues to advance this shared vision 20 years on. 

This theme reflects both our collective footprint over the past 20 years and our common goal and pathways towards the future.

The logo highlights our three core pillars: birds, habitats, and people.

Within the theme, the word “flyway” represents habitats and the importance of ecological connectivity across the East Asian–Australasian Flyway. “People” reflects our shared commitment to the communities and livelihoods that depend on the wetlands (habitats). “Wings” symbolises our winged travellers, the migratory waterbirds.

The word “Woven” captures the importance of mutual respect, communication, and reciprocal cooperation through partnership, and reflects the interconnected nature of our journey together.
