Let us weave the future: Why Sponsoring MOP12 Means Investing in Life Itself

This November, the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership(EAAFP) will find its voice—not only in the beating wings of migratory birds, but in the collective actions of the people working to protect them.

The 12th Meeting of Partners (MOP12) of the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) will take place from 8–14 November 2025 in Cebu, Philippines. Held biennially, this flagship conservation event convenes a dynamic community of governments, NGOs, researchers, Flyway Network Site Managers, and private sector partners, all committed to safeguarding migratory waterbirds and the habitats upon which we all depend.

Under the theme “Weaving Connections: Celebrating Migration, Traditional Knowledge, and Innovation across our Flyway,” MOP12 embodies the spirit of unity, co-creation, and collective stewardship. It serves as a vital platform for reviewing progress towards the Partnership’s Strategic Plan, setting future directions, and reinforcing the bonds that underpin a whole-of-Flyway approach to conservation.

A Biennial Gathering with Real-World Impact

Migratory birds recognise no borders. They rely on a continuous chain of wetlands, coastlines, rice fields, and even small ponds in urban parks—ecosystems that are also home to countless other species, support fisheries and agriculture, and sustain cultural and community life. When we protect migratory birds, we are also safeguarding biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human wellbeing for us and our future generations.

MOP12 acknowledges this profound interdependence. It provides space for Flyway Site Managers, Working Groups, and Task Forces to exchange field experiences, address shared challenges, and forge new collaborations across regions and sectors. This is where knowledge is transformed into action—where traditional wisdom intersects with modern science.

Yet, none of this is possible without support.
