Enhancing Cooperation between EAAFP TSc, and Working Groups and Task Forces

Following up on the Secretariat-led Review of Operations of Working Groups and Task Forces (WG/TF) and an initial meeting between Technical Committee (TSc) and several WG/TF leads at the Beijing Science Meeting in Sept 2024, we proposed a meeting at MOP12 to:

  • discuss modalities of communication and cooperation among TSc, WG/TFs and Secretariat (including Science Unit)
  • solicit feedback from WG/TFs on how best TSc and Secretariat can support them
  • identify successes and challenges faced by WG/TFs that can be shared to improve their
    operations and effectiveness
  • identify opportunities for collaboration among and within WG/TFs (e.g., with CEPA WG)
  • discuss common issues such as membership (would WG/TFs like it to be broader?) resourcing, etc.
  • discuss future plans (e.g., restructuring some WG/TF)
Alignment with the EAAFP Strategic Plan (2019–2028)

WG/TFs are undertaking critical work in support of all of EAAFP Objectives and many Key Result Areas under the Strategic Plan and in that sense are already well-aligned. Reporting aginst KRAs would serve to demonstrate their contributions. This is an area where TSc can support WG/TFs in streamlined reporting.
